Residential

The youth in our Residential program have a history of trauma and emotional or behavioral challenges. They are accepted into the program based on their need for intensive, therapeutic treatment in a residential setting. Students are referred through school special education committees and Department of Social Services programs.

Our Residential Treatment Program offers a comprehensive therapeutic approach that includes both clinical and educational interventions targeting the issues that disrupted the youth's ability to remain at home and in their community. This specialized program provides intensive services to address significant issues rooted in childhood trauma, mental illness, sexual abuse (both victim and aggressor), chronic neglect, and substance abuse, using a DBT model.

Our five acre property is located in the historic waterfront district alongside the Hudson River in Kingston, NY. We provide a cell phone-free environment. The property includes a swimming pool, full-size soccer field, outdoor basketball court, indoor recreation space, and full-sized gymnasium allowing for a wide range of year-round activities.

The campus consists of three living units, each equipped with a living room, kitchen/dining area, and game room. Each youth is provided with their own personal room. We are able to house 24 youth, with each cottage accommodating eight youths.

Youth participate in a highly structured daily programming designed to meet their individual needs, as well as plans that meet the entire residential population such as chores and quiet time for reflection and processing the day. Program topics include but are not limited to:

    • Daily living Skills
    • Self-Care Skills
    • Work and Study Skills

    • Social Development
    • Relationship Skills
    • Housing and Money Management

    • Communication
    • Home Life
    • Work Life and Career Planning

Youth are also encouraged to participate in peer mentoring and community service events in our community. Youth are taught to take more responsibility to become independent and self-reliant as they prepare to navigate the world and as they reenter their communities.
